Founded in 1979, Southside Harmonics provides a platform for young people in south London to cultivate and further develop their skills acquired in school. Comprising members from various schools in the London Boroughs of Lambeth, Southwark, and Wandsworth, we have grown to become one of Europe's leading Steel Orchestras.
At Southside Harmonics, we offer weekly music and arts sessions to both young people and adults in the community. Our programs grant them access to performances, tours, concerts, and competitions while also nurturing their music theory, team-building, confidence, timekeeping, discipline, and other valuable life skills. Through our activities, participants make positive contributions to their community. We are proud to have organized workshops, classes, and sensory games tailored for children with disabilities such as Asperger's syndrome, autism, ADHD, behavioral issues, and various other challenges.
Throughout the year, Southside Harmonics performs at numerous functions and has had the privilege of entertaining dignitaries such as Nelson Mandela, HRH Princess Anne, HRH Princess Margaret, The Lord Mayor, Iain Botham, Mick Jagger, and Ainsley Harriott. Our performances have taken place at esteemed venues including Hilton Hotels, Savoy Hotel, Dorchester Hotel, Alexandra Palace, Eltham Palace, and O2 Scrum on the Beach. We have also made appearances on BBC1, ITV, and other prominent platforms.
Southside Harmonics has proudly secured the title of Champions of Notting Hill's "The Best Steelband on the Road" competition multiple times. We participate annually in the Notting Hill Carnival, one of the world's largest street festivals. Whether it's a garden party, wedding, festival/carnival, or corporate event, Southside Harmonics guarantees to create the perfect atmosphere with our extensive repertoire of Pop, Ballads, Reggae, Calypso, and Bossa Nova classics.
